Benton County Fire Protection District No. 2 is accepting applications to create an eligibility list for the position of Firefighter / EMT; an FLSA non-exempt, IAFF represented position. This list will be used for 1 year. Please review job qualifications below for more information about the position.

Salary Range: $64,833.27 - $71,479.07 (Base 2025 CBA) (+4% 2026 Base CBA)

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

- Age Requirement: Candidates must be at least 18 years of age at date of closing.
- Educational Requirement: Candidates must have a High School Diploma or GED Certificate.
- Fire Certification: IFSAC or Accredited Firefighter I; NWCG Wildland FF Type II (or ability to obtain both, 6 months of hire).
- EMS Certification: Washington State or National Registry - EMT (or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire).
- Medical Examination: Ability to pass a medical exam based on NFPA 1582 Medical Requirements for Firefighters.
- Licensure: Possess a valid insurable Washington Driver's License, or ability to obtain; possess a driving record that meets the Benton Fire District 2’s standards.
DESIRABLE CERTIFICATIONS, TRAITS, AND ABILITIES:
- IFSAC or Accredited FFII
- NWCG Wildland FF Type 1
- Accredited NFPA Pumper/Operator
- Accredited NFPA Instructor I
- Rescue Boat Operator | Swiftwater Rescuer SRT-1
- Associates of Applied Science Fire Science Degree
- Mechanical Aptitude/Experience
- Ability to perform minor maintenance/repair tasks on fire apparatus
- Ability to diagnose minor problem sources on fire apparatus
- Ability to weld and fabricate
- Ability to maintain repair records and prepare electronic reports
- Enthusiasm/Desire for Public Service
- Basic Computer Skills
- Interpersonal Skills
- High Level of Ethical Standards and Moral Integrity
- Understanding of Professional Public Image
- Previous experience working for a Combination Department
